James Johnson named NCAA All-American in the mile
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - James Johnson capped off his impressive indoor season with All-American honors, finishing 13th overall in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Johnson earned his first ever NCAA All-American honors, placing second team after placing 13th in the field with a time of 4:14.22 minutes. Johnson continued to get stronger as the race went on, dropping from 33 seconds in his opening 200-meters to finishing the final 200-meters in just 29 seconds. With the strong final kick, Johnson moved up three spots in the heat to secure the All-American honors.
Johnson's All-American honor marks the third straight year Simpson had at least one athlete earn All-American honors. Over the three years, Simpson men's track and field has had eight All-American.
