Heidelbauer, Sayee named Simpson Athletes of the Month for May
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Softball senior Megan Heidelbauer and men's track and field junior Rouce Sayee have been selected as the Simpson Athletics Athletes of the Month for May.
Heidelbauer paced the Storm offense during the program's deepest postseason run in more than two decades, while Sayee capped his junior season with a conference title and a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Megan Heidelbauer, softball
- Led Simpson offensively during its deepest postseason run since 1999
- Batted .391 with 18 hits, including eight extra-base hits
- Drove in 16 runs and scored 14 times
- Helped the Storm capture the A-R-C Tournament title, Indianola Regional championship, and Winona Super Regional crown
- Played a key role in Simpson's run at the NCAA Division III College World Series, where the Storm won two games
Rouce Sayee, track and field
- Captured the A-R-C outdoor title in the 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 52.69
- Helped Simpson earn runner-up honors in the 4x400 relay at the conference championships
- Earned USTFCCCA All-Region recognition in both the 400m hurdles and 4x400 relay
- Finished among the top 20 in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships
