McDaniel highlights Simpson's start to 2026 indoor season
PELLA, Iowa - Four event wins, along with a second best mark in school history from Lathan McDaniel in the weight throw, capped off Simpson's opening meet of 2026.
"We are pleased with the start of the 2026 indoor season," said head coach James Hoffman. "Per usual with our first meet after a long break, we had some ups and downs on the day but overall I thought the student-athletes competed well."
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- The Storm earned four first place marks on the day, including wins in the 60m dash, 300m and 600m, and 4x400 relay.
- Lathan McDaniel finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.99m, marking it the second best performance in school history.
- Kendrick Achebe continued to impress in the 60m dash, winning the event with a time of 6.91 seconds, just 0.03 seconds off his school record.
- In the 300m race, Jacob Zeh etched his name in the school's top-ten marks with a time of 36.72 seconds.
