Simpson Track and Field adds two-time Olympian to staff; expands duties for coach Berkey

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Simpson track and field program made adjustments to the coaching staff including adding two-time Olympian Natasha Brown, along with additional responsibilities for current assistant coach Carter Berkey.

With the retirement of former assistant coach Guy Mosher, who had been on the Storm's coaching staff since 2022, Berkey has expanded his coaching role to include multis and jumps responsibilities. In addition to the new duties on the track, Berkey will also serve as the recruiting coordinator for both programs.

Simpson also expanded its coaching staff, adding two-time Olympian and former University of Missouri associate head coach Natasha Brown. A silver medalist in the 4x400m relay at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics, and gold medalist in the 4x400m relay at the 1993 World Championships, Brown brings an extensive resume of experience to Indianola.

Over her 25-year coaching career, including 16 seasons as Drake's track and field and cross country head coach, Brown coached eight NCAA finalists, 32 conference champions, 41 school records, and 47 NCAA qualifiers.

Prior to coaching, Brown was a member of 16 U.S. national teams after winning the 1989 NCAA National Championships in the 400m. A six-time NCAA All-American, five-time conference champion, and former NCAA collegiate record holder in the 400m, Brown was named to the SEC Legends program in 2020.

The 2025-26 track and field season begins for Simpson on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Grinnell Opener in Grinnell, Iowa.

Simpson athletes visit Lasik Iowa and Lasik Omaha doctors for annual checkups.
