Simpson forces 38 NWU turnovers in 88-66 win

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Amy Hamilton had a career-high 25 points Saturday night and No. 19 Simpson took advantage of 38 Nebraska Wesleyan turnovers in taking an 88-66 win on the first day of the 2009 Simpson Storm Classic at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Hamilton was 5-for-8 from three-point land for the Storm (3-0), which scored 32 points off turnovers. After a close first half, Simpson stretched a five-point lead at intermission to a 17-point cushion on the strength of a 16-4 run in the first four minutes of the second half.

Shea Rasmussen led the Prairie Wolves (2-2) with 17 points.

The tournament continues Saturday, as Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista (3-2) square off at 1:30 p.m. and Simpson takes on No. 9 UW-Whitewater (2-0) in the finale, set for 3:30 p.m. UWW and BVU met in Friday's first game, as the Warhawks coasted to an 83-68 win.
