Simpson men's basketball suffers road loss to Central
PELLA, Iowa - Central used double-digit scoring runs at the end of both halves to knock off Simpson 69-57 on Wednesday night.
Trailing by as many as 16, Simpson (8-14, 5-8 A-R-C) cut Central's (12-10, 5-8) lead down to five on multiple occasions in the second half. However, a final scoring run 10-2 over the final five minutes secured the final result.
Cam Henderson led the way in the scoring column for the Storm with 16 points, along Calix Cahill's 11. Bo Huston and Seth Gipple combined for 15 with eight and seven points respectively. Brogan Fuller added four points, five rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and two assists off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Simpson jumped out to an early 9-6 lead on baskets from Cam Henderson, Isaac Averill and Calix Cahill.
- Central scored seven straight points to take the lead back, one the Dutch refused to give up for the rest of the ballgame.
- The Storm pulled within one at the 8:32 mark before halftime before a 17-2 run by Central opened up the 16-point edge at halftime.
- Henderson and Levi Gurwell combined for 11 points in the first four minutes of action in the second half to help close the gap to five.
- The Storm made another run with five minutes on the clock, closing the lead to just five once again when Central scored ten straight down the stretch to secure the win.
