Henderson, Gurwell honored as A-R-C All-Conference selections
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Leading Simpson all season in scoring, Cam Henderson and Levi Gurwell were recognized as American Rivers Conference All-Conference selections on Tuesday.
Henderson was named second team all-conference after pacing Simpson at 16.9 points per game, which ranked tied for third in the conference. Gurwell, who was second on the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game, was named honorable mention all-conference.
The pair of guards played in all 25 games for the Storm, and their combined 31 points per game accounted for over 40 percent of team scoring. Henderson shot nearly 45 percent from the field and over 40 percent from beyond the arc and a team-leading 84 percent at the line. Over 30 minutes per game, Henderson grabbed 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while leading the team in steals at 1.4 per contest.
Henderson provided the Storm a consistent scoring threat all season long, reaching the double-digit mark in 23 of 25 games and reached the 20-point mark in seven matchups. His career-high 31 points came against Central on Jan. 14 where Henderson shot 12-for-17 from the field with three 3-pointers lifting Simpson a 94-79 win. He followed up with a 24-point night against Dubuque to earn his first A-R-C Player of the Week award.
Gurwell shot an efficient 41.8 percent from the field and his 2.2 made 3-pointers per game led the team and was second most in conference. His 2.6 assists per game topped Simpson and was 11th best in conference while also grabbing three rebounds and 0.9 steals per contest.
Over a 15-game stretch, Gurwell scored at least 12 points per game, reaching the 20-point mark in six games including a four game stretch where he averaged 21.8 points. His season-high 25 helped Simpson topple Dubuque on the road where he shot 8-for-15 with four made 3-pointers.
The honor marked the second straight for Gurwell and Henderson became the first second team selection since Andrew Gibb in 2024.
