Storm fall to A-R-C leading Duhawks on the road
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Storm went wire-to-wire with the A-R-C leading Loras Duhawks, falling 77-71 on Saturday night to wrap up a three-game road trip.
Simpson (8-10, 5-4 A-R-C) shot 26-for-65 (40 percent) from the field, and 4-for-20 (20 percent) beyond the arc. Loras (14-4, 8-1 A-R-C) outrebounded the Storm 45-to-40, while Simpson grabbed 10 assists on just eight turnovers with seven steals and two blocks.
After a tough first half shooting, 8-for-30 from the field, the Storm rebounded strong in the second half. As a team, Simpson shot 18-for-35 from the field, including 16-for-24 from inside the arc to fuel the second half offensive surge.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Loras jumped out to the first lead of the ballgame, opening up a nine-point edge after nearly eight minutes of action.
- Simpson managed to cut the lead down to five on multiple possessions throughout the first half, but ultimately went into the locker rooms trailing by 11.
- The Storm opened the second half on fire, outscoring Loras 13-to-5 with Spencer Holley leading the way with seven points.
- For every run Simpson made, Loras was able to respond in the second half, as the Storm managed to get the lead down to less than five but never all the way gone.
- Simpson used a late 8-2 run over the final minutes to get the Duhawks to within four but a pair of free throws and a final score sealed the win for Loras.
