Storm come up short at home to Luther
INDIANOLA, Iowa - Despite a 26-point night from Cam Henderson, Simpson was unable to overcome Luther, falling 86-79 on Saturday night.
Simpson (8-11, 5-5 A-R-C) struggled to find a way to silence Luther's (7-13, 2-9) attack as the Norse shot 48 percent from the field, while only committing three turnovers. Henderson led the way in the scoring column for the Storm, leading with a game-high 26. Calix Cahill (14 points), Levi Gurwell (11 points), and Isaac Averill (10 points) each reached the double-digit mark as well.
As a team, Simpson finished 26-for-59 (44.1 percent) from the field, 6-for-18 (33.3 percent) beyond the arc, and 21-for-29 (72.4 percent) at the free throw line. The Storm grabbed 37 rebounds with eight assists on 10 turnovers, two steals and four blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both offenses began the game firing on all cylinders, with Simpson leading 11-9 after just three minutes of action.
- A Bo Huston 3-pointer gave the Storm their largest lead of the game at 21-15 with 11:27 on the clock.
- Luther outscored Simpson by 13 over the final ten minutes until Gurwell connected on a last second basket to cut the score to 44-39 in favor of Luther heading into half.
- Luther's lead touched double-digits seven minutes into the second half, reaching a high of 13.
- Simpson managed to trim the lead down to single-digits on multiple occasions but were never able to fully close the gap.
