Patterson qualifies for the NCAA National Championships for a fifth time
INDIANAPOLIS - For the fifth time in his historic career, Ulysses Patterson qualified for the NCAA National Championships, this year located in Geneva, Ohio starting Thursday, May 22.
The recently named A-R-C Field Athlete of the Year, Patterson returns to the biggest stage after already competing at the Indoor National Championships earlier this year. In the heptathlon, the three-time All-American, earned his first first-team All-American honor.
This time around, Patterson will be competing in the decathlon, his second time qualifying in the multi-event after reaching last outdoor season. In 2024, Patterson finished ninth overall with 6737 total points, a mark that still stands as his personal and second best in school history.
On the year, Patterson nearly broke his personal best in the decathlon at the A-R-C Outdoor Championships, finishing with a 6729 total points. He finished over 300 points above the second place finisher and was named the A-R-C Field Athlete of the Year, the second time this season after winning the Indoor award as well.
