Patterson named A-R-C Field Performer of the Week following decathlon win
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Following a dominant showing at the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Championships, Ulysses Patterson has been named the league's Field Performer of the Week.
Patterson captured the decathlon title with a commanding 6,729 points, over 300 points ahead of the runner-up and just eight shy of his personal best. He claimed victory in five of the 10 events, including the long jump, javelin, high jump, discus, and 1500-meter run.
After wrapping up the decathlon over the first two days of competition, Patterson returned Saturday to place fourth in the open javelin event. He was named the A-R-C Field Most Valuable Performer at the conclusion of the meet, joining former teammate Spencer Moon as the only athletes in program history to sweep the indoor and outdoor MVP awards in the same year. Moon became the first to do so in 2023.
Simpson will compete at the Augustana Last Chance meet this Wednesday and Thursday before the NCAA Outdoor National Championships starting on May 21 in Geneva, Ohio.
