Trio of Storm named to USTFCCCA All-Region team
NEW ORLEANS - For their efforts on the track and in the field, Emma Cooper, Olivia Merrill, and Anna Parrott were named All-Region selections by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
Cooper continuously set new school records in the 60m dash, topping out at 7.70 seconds most recently at the A-R-C Championships where she placed second and earned all-conference honors.
Merrill added to her trophy case with the all-region selection in the shot put, setting a season-best 13.47m mark at the Grinnell Invitational. Her mark easily set a school record by eight inches, one held since 2009.
Parrott set the third best score in school history in the pentathlon with a best of 2934 points at the Dutch Winter Multis back in January where she won the event by nearly 400 points.
The award marks the first in all three of Cooper's, Merrill's, and Parrott's careers. The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams.
