Heidelbauer and Steen named NFCA All-Americans
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The accolades kept coming for Simpson's top-of-the-lineup stars as Megan Heidelbauer and Ashlyn Steen were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American team.
Steen was named to the third team for the second straight season, while Heidelbauer was honored for the first time in her career, landing a spot on the second team. With the honors, Steen and Heidelbauer add the 17th and 18th All-American awards in program history.
Simpson wrapped up a historic 2025 season featuring a 34-9 record overall and 11-5 in A-R-C action. Simpson captured a share of the A-R-C regular season title, the first since 2010, and advanced to the NCAA Regional where the Storm reached the regional final.
Megan Heidelbauer, Second Team All-American
- Junior first baseman from Marion, Iowa
- Voted NFCA first team all-region
- Named the American Rivers Conference Position Player of the Year
- Selected to A-R-C first team all-conference
- Slashed .497/.580/.993 on the season with 15 home runs and 68 RBIs over 43 games
- Broke the school record for most RBIs (68), hits (71), and total bases (142) in a single season
- Led the conference in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, runs batted in, triples, and home runs
- Finished with 14 doubles, tied second most in the conference
- Was perfect on the base path with 15 stolen bases and zero caught stealing
- Over 143 at-bats, struck out only nine times while recording 15 walks
- Finished second on the team and third overall in conference with 55 runs scored
- Hit the game-winning walk-off home run in an 11-inning affair with UW-Platteville in April
- Was named the A-R-C Player of the Week on March 24 after slugging over .500 with five home runs and 17 runs driven in
- Named mid-season to the NFCA Division III Pitcher and Player of the Year watchlist
Ashlyn Steen, Third Team All-American
- Junior center fielder from Mount Vernon, Iowa
- Selected to the NFCA first all-region
- Named to American Rivers Conference first team all-conference
- Batted .479/.548/.733 on the season with five home runs and 34 RBIs over 43 games
- Led the conference in runs scored, breaking the school record with 65 runs
- Finished second in conference in batting average and slugging percentage and was third in on-base and hits with 70
- Led the team with 28 stolen bases on the season, placing second overall in conference
- Collected 12 doubles, and five triples while only striking out nine times and recording 15 walks on the year
- Was named the A-R-C Player of the Week on April 21 after hitting 13-for-20 with two home runs and 11 RBIs on the week
- Finished with five outfield assists and 45 putouts in center
