LINCOLN, Neb. - Alexis Ehlers drove in eight of the Storm's 13 runs on the day as Simpson softball responded after a tough 2-1 opening loss to roll past Nebraska Wesleyan 12-3 in the finale on Tuesday afternoon.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Steen provided the lone spark for the offense, driving a pitch to deep right for a solo shot to give Simpson the first lead of the day in the third inning.
- Breckner got the start in the circle, going six scoreless innings to begin the game. The sophomore retired the first 10 batters of the day, and worked out of two jams in the fourth and fifth to keep Nebraska Wesleyan off the board.
- In the seventh, NWU managed to get runners on with a walk and a hit-by-pitch with one out. The Prairie Wolves tied the game and walked-off with back-to-back RBI singles to steal the 2-1 result.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Shaner put Simpson on the board first with her RBI single to center in the top half of the first inning.
- After NWU responded with a solo shot in the bottom of the first, the Storm scored the next ten runs of the game over three innings.
- Heidelbauer started the four-run second inning with an RBI single to center, followed by Ehlers RBI single to left. Shaner added another on her RBI double to center, before being capped-off with a Bruening RBI double.
- Ehlers added to the lead in the third with a two run home run to left center, scoring Steen to make it 9-1.
- Ehlers continued to deal damage in the fourth with a bases-clearing double with two outs to break open and eventually sealing the 12-3 win.
