Shaner’s big week at the plate nets her A-R-C Player of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After collecting nine hits, including two home runs, and five runs batted in, Katie Shaner was named the American Rivers Conference Player of the Week.
For the first time in her career, Shaner was voted the American Rivers Conference Player of the Week. Over four games, Shaner hit .643 with two home runs, five RBIs, with 17 total bases and an OPS of 1.857.
After a quiet 0-for-3 day to begin the week, Shaner caught fire in the second game of the doubleheader against Nebraska Wesleyan. The sophomore went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, one run, and one double. The production continued against Buena Vista as she finished the day 6-for-8 with two home runs, three RBIs, three runs scored, and one double.
Shaner and the Storm improved to 23-3 on the season, and next up will host Central for a key doubleheader on Monday starting at 4:00 p.m.
