GRINNELL, Iowa -- For the second time this season, the duo of Hannah Lester and Alyssa Mathews were recognized to an all-tournament team, this time coming after playing in the Central/Grinnell Invitational over the weekend.
The seniors guided the Storm to a 2-1 mark over the weekend and moved the team's overall record to 6-6. Simpson opened the Central/Grinnell Invitational with a 3-2 win over Concordia-Chicago and followed that up with a sweep of Alverno. The Storm ended play on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-River Falls.
Lester paced the offense with 31 kills and a .248 hitting percentage spread across the three games. At the net, the Indianola product blocked eight attack attempts. Mathews showed her passing prowess by dishing out 76 assists, tallying her most in the win over Concordia-Chicago with 34.
The Storm compete at home for the first time all year on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Luther. Wear your favorite Hawaii themed costume on Tuesday to be entered into a fan drawing during the team's Hawaiian Night.
