GRINNELL, Iowa -- In the final match of the Central/Grinnell Invitational, the Simpson volleyball team fell 3-0 to Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa to finish the Invitational at 2-1.
The Falcons (10-6) took the first set with ease by a score of 25-14. Wis.-River Falls hit .429 with 16 kills and held Simpson to a .111 hitting clip and 10 kills. The Storm ramped their play up in the second set with 15 kills and forced a few extra set points, but it ended 28-26 in favor of the Falcons.
In the third set, Simpson tallied 12 kills and its best hitting percentage of the game with a .175. After two ties and one lead change, Wis.-River Falls would clinch the match with a 25-20 win.
The Storm had trouble hitting over the Falcons' wall as they had eight attacks blocked during the contest.
For the first time all season, the Storm will play on their home court as Simpson hosts Luther on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest. Wear your favorite Hawaii themed costume on Tuesday to be entered into a fan drawing during the team's Hawaiian Night.
