Men’s tennis earns 8-1 victory over Dubuque
DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's tennis team returned to the win column with an 8-1 victory over Dubuque on Saturday.
The Storm (5-10, 2-5 A-R-C) have now won their last three of four matches, including two against American Rivers Conference foes.
Simpson won all three doubles matches against the Spartans (2-15, 0-7 A-R-C) to start with a 3-0 advantage.
Brett Dewerff (No. 5) and Ethan Humble (No. 6) cruised to wins in singles play by not losing a game in straight sets. Aaron Price (No. 2) and Peter Walkwitz (No. 4) only lost four games in both of their matches to win.
Caleb Vasconez was the lone player to reach a third set. Vasconez opened the No. 3 slot with a 6-2 win, but Devon Gerber returned with a 7-6 victory to force a third set. Vasconez escaped with a 10-5 triumph.

The Storm cap off A-R-C action on Saturday, May 1 with a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan. The bout will begin at 10 a.m. inside the Buxton Tennis Complex.
