Simpson competes in A-R-C Individual Tourney

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Simpson men's tennis team took part in the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday split between three venues in the Des Moines Metro.

The duo of Aaron Price and Caleb Vasconez went 2-2 in the B-Doubles division. Price and Vasconez opened the day with an 8-0 victory over Dubuque's Sincere Davis and Kody Hampton before dropping an 8-6 match in the quarterfinals against Ethan St. John and Tanner Finken of Central.

The loss pitted the Storm tandem against Buena Vista's Danny Kramer and Aaron Mumm in the B-Doubles Consolation bracket. Price and Vasconez cruised to an 8-2 victory to earn a spot in the consolation semifinals, but were overmatched 8-6 by a pair from Nebraska Wesleyan.

Chase Henry earned two straight victories in C-Singles to etch his name in the quarterfinals after displacing opponents from Buena Vista and Central. Henry was unable to advance to the semifinals in an 8-2 loss to Conner Fuzzey from Luther.

Peter Walkwitz and Ethan Humble lost their opening matches in the B-Singles flight. Both Storm tennis players rebounded with victories after moving to the consolation round, but the duo dropped their next matches in the quarterfinals to end their day.

Jake Brend competed in his first match of the year and started out C-Singles play with a bye, but dropped his next two contests. Reade Reiter was the lone Simpson student-athlete to compete in A-Singles.

That concludes the fall campaign for the Storm as the team will return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Principia.
