Simpson men’s tennis drop two matches

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday against Coe and Wisconsin-La Crosse in Cedar Rapids.

The Kohawks prevailed 8-1 in the opener and the Eagles blanked the Storm (0-5, 0-1 A-R-C) 9-0.

Ethan Humble captured the lone victory for Simpson on the day. Humble won a three-set thriller at No. 5 singles against Coe's Ethan Weber. He lost the opener 4-6, but came back to win 6-2, 10-7 for his second triumph of the season.

Brett Dewerff took his match to three sets after winning the second, but could not pull off the third set to fall at No. 6 singles against the Kohawks' Jack Cook.

The Storm did not reach a third set against Wisconsin-La Crosse.
