Storm can't generate enough offense in 1-0 loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Alexandra Watkins scored the game's only goal early in the first half and Dubuque handed Simpson a 1-0 loss on Saturday.

Watkins made good on a cross by Megan Siepler at the 9:37 mark for the Spartans (5-5-2, 1-1-1 Iowa Conference).

The Storm (7-5, 1-2) took three shots on the day in losing their third-straight.

"We've endured a tough stretch with three quality opponents in five days," said head coach Ryan Sander, referencing losses to Grand View and Wartburg earlier in the week. "I knew it was going to be tough but we were hoping for better results. Obviously it was disappointing, but we will regroup this week."

Megan Petersen made three saves between the posts for Simpson while Loisann DeLass made two for Dubuque.

Heather Adolph and Susan Leslie put shots on goal for the Storm, who host Central at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
