Dunlavy moves into 16th all-time in loss

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Simpson senior Tim Dunlavy scored a game-high 25 points, but UW-Platteville mounted a 25-9 run down the stretch in a 75-58 win on the first day of the Pioneer Ford/Frito Lay Thanksgiving Classic.

Dunlavy moved into 16th on Simpson's all-time scoring list with the effort, passing Mark King (1,029 points, 1974-78). Dunlavy brought his career total to 1,043 points.

Leading 38-36 at the break, the Storm (1-4) led for the first six minutes of the second half, riding Dunlavy's 16 points in the period.

The Pionoeers (3-2) changed the momentum of the game when Curt Hanson completed a three-point play at the 13:30 mark, tying the game at 47. After UWP went up 50-47 with a three from Allan Ballweg, Andrew Dau answered with a duece to bring Simpson within a point.

From there, UWP scored eight unanswered points as part of a 25-9 run over the final 9 minutes 13 seconds.

Hanson led the Pioneers with 18 points. Mike Shaw added 13 and six assists, while Eric Wall and Rob Stallion each grabbed seven rebounds.

Dau came away with 12 points for the Storm and Zack Barragan had a career-high eight rebounds to go along with four assists.

Simpson continues play at the Pioneer Ford/Frito Lay Thanksgiving Classic Sunday, facing Ripon in a 1 p.m. tipoff.
