No. 14 Simpson rolls past Ithaca, second game delayed by mother nature

CLERMONT, Fla. - The doubleheader started off strong for 14th-ranked Simpson with the Storm routing Ithaca 10-0 before lightning delayed the second game against Chicago.

Simpson improved to 9-0 on the year with the quick win over Ithaca fueled by three-run innings in the first and second, and finally a four-spot in the fifth. After falling behind early in the second game to Chicago, Simpson roared back taking a 5-4 lead before mother nature got in the way. With lighting and rainstorms, the game was postponed and will be resumed at a later date.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Simpson jumped on the board early with a three run first inning. Mackenzie James drove in Steen with an RBI groundout, followed by an RBI single from Katie Shaner and Addison Gookin topped off the inning with an RBI groundout.
