Gibson plates five as Storm drop slugfest at Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – In a game defined by big innings on both sides, Simpson came up short in a 17-11 loss to Loras on Sunday.

The contest featured multiple explosive frames, with five different innings producing at least three runs as both teams traded momentum throughout the afternoon.

Loras (15-14, 9-7 A-R-C) struck first with a five-run second inning, but the Storm (19-12, 10-6 A-R-C) answered immediately with a six-run third to take the lead. Simpson continued its surge in the fourth, plating three more runs to build a 9-5 advantage behind a two-run home run from Bryson Gibson.

The Duhawks responded with the game's decisive stretch in the fifth, erupting for seven runs to regain control at 12-9. After Simpson cut the deficit to one with a pair of runs in the seventh, Loras once again answered, scoring four times in the bottom half of the inning to extend its lead.
