LINCOLN, Neb. – The 2024 season came to a close for the Storm men's soccer team in Lincoln, as Simpson fell 1-0 in the opening round of the A-R-C Tournament to Nebraska Wesleyan.
The Storm's offense was unable to find the back of the net despite firing off 11 shots, five of which landed on goal. Ronaldo Ordaz, one final time, was the centerpoint of the attack, collecting five shots, and four other Storm managed to get into the shot column.
Nebraska Wesleyan scored the lone goal of the match in the 22nd minute. The Prairie Wolves managed to lock down the Storm's attack for the final 70 minutes and secure the win to advance in the conference tournament.
GOAL SUMMARY
- The Prairie Wolves struck first with a goal in the 22nd minute when NWU dribbled down the near side into the box, and slipped a ball in across the goal line to the back post.
NOTES
- The Storm outshot the Prairie Wolves 11-to-7, and recorded five shots on goal.
- Mason Chaplin got the start in goal, going the full 90 minutes, and collected five saves.
- Grant Strickler and Ben Reynolds each recorded two shots.
- The result was nearly the same from the two teams first matchup, with the Storm collecting more shots, but falling 1-0 on the road.
