Simpson dominates Buena Vista in Homecoming matchup

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Mitchell Dickson registered five points, Arturo Hernandez found the back of the net twice, and the Simpson College men's soccer team blew past Buena Vista 7-0 to close out Homecoming Saturday.

The scoring opened early with Hernandez finding the back of the net just 2:57 into the match thanks to an assist by Dickson. Not long after, Iain Macrae added a second goal, with Dickson tallying another assist.

Early in the second half, Dickson turned from provider to scorer, netting a goal with help from Brayden Sithonnorath to stretch the lead to three. Hernandez struck again in the 58th minute, this time with a double assist from Zach Kline and Dickson. Kline continued the scoring momentum by adding a goal of his own in the 64th minute, and Connor Slack and Anthony Chavez rounded out the scoreline.

  • Michell Dickson's five points is a season-high for Simpson and the most by a Storm player since Ronaldo Ordaz registered six against Loras on Oct. 14, 2023.
  • Arturo Hernandez (2), Iain Macrae and Connor Slack all scored their first goals in Simpson uniform. 
  • Mason Chaplin and Jimmy Berna combined for the Storm's fourth clean sheet of the year. 
  • The Storm take a 24-3-2 lead in the all-time series. Simpson has outscored Buena Vista 102-22 in those 29 games. This was the fourth time the Storm have beaten the Beavers by seven goals.
  • This was Simpson's largest scoring output since putting up nine goals against Buena Vista on March 30, 2021.
