INDIANOLA, Iowa - Fueled by goals from three different players, and a clean sheet from goalie Jimmy Berna, the Storm men's soccer team defeated Augustana 3-0 on the road Friday evening.
The Storm (1-0) struck quickly, scoring the first goal of the season in the 18th minute, before breaking open the game in the second half with two more goals. Simpson outshot Augustana (0-1) 15 to seven, with nine of the Storm's shots coming on target. The defense shut down the attack of the Vikings, limiting their chances to only one shot on-goal.
GOAL SUMMARY
- Ronaldo Ordaz picked up right where he left off last season, scoring the opening goal of the year on an assist from Grant Strickler in the 18th minute
- Jackson Mears started the scoring in the second half, scoring his first in the 59th minute off an assist from Zach Kline
- Kline quickly put the game away, scoring his first goal of the season just two minutes later with an assist coming from Ordaz
