Dickson scores lone goal as Simpson falls to Carleton

INDIANOLA, Iowa - A goal from Mitchell Dickson helped the Storm cut the lead in half to begin the second half; however, it proved to be not enough as Simpson fell 4-1 to Carleton on Sunday night.

Simpson (4-3-0) outshot Carleton (5-1-3) in the second half to a tune of 12 to seven but were unable to find the equalizer. Carleton quickly got on the board, scoring in the 10th minute, before adding their second in the 23rd minute. Out of halftime, Simpson answered right away, when Dickson connected on his second goal of the season in the 57th minute. The Knights sealed the game with two late goals to claim their fifth victory of the season.

GOAL SUMMARY

  • Carleton's first goal came off a set piece from the far corner to a header that squeezed around the near side post.
  • The Knights scored in the 23rd minute on a strike from 30 yards out that found the top right of the net.
  • After a takeaway in the Storm's defensive zone, Tate Downs connected on a pass to the right side of the box in a streaking Dickson, who rifled his shot past the keeper for his second goal of the season.
