Bill Buxton Stadium
Bill Buxton Stadium is the home of the football team and soccer
teams, and it is also the home site for the Kip Janvrin Open for
the track and field teams. Bill Buxton Stadium is seated at the
heart of Simpson’s campus. It has seen many improvements in
it’s 40 plus years of athletic competitions. Most notably, a
stand alone concession stand was built in the late 1990’s,
and then the stadium received a new playing surface (Astro-Play)
and resurfaced the track in the summer of 2001. The next
improvement came in the summer of 2005 with the scoreboards being
redone. A cement sidewalk encompassing the track and cement plaza
in front of the concession stand completed the newest enhancement
during the summer of 2007. The latest improvement came in the
summer of 2009 and saw a new ticket booth and arched gateway
installed in the southeast entrance.
All of this has brought us to this point for our current Building
For Champions project with Bill Buxton Stadium. Three phases have
been established with this project.
Phase 1
• Southeast Ticket Booth - completed
• North End Ticket Booths – completed
• Perimeter pillars and fencing - completed
• East bleacher brick enclosure
Phase 2
• Donor Plaza
Phase 3
• Renovation of main stadium/press box
These additions will be instrumental in the future of Simpson
athletics and Buxton Stadium. The stadium seats 5,000 spectators,
while hosting approximately fifteen college and high school
football games, forty soccer games and ten track meets. Your
support will help rebuild our stadium, and keep our championship
traditions alive and well as we look to the future.
