Simpson voted third in inaugural A-R-C Preseason Poll
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – In the inaugural American Rivers Conference Preseason Women's Wrestling Poll, Simpson College was tabbed third with one first place vote.
The Storm are entering their third season of competition and first as a conference-sponsored sport. Simpson boasts a roster of 40 wrestlers, including eight returners that posted 15 or more wins last year.
2023-24 IN REVIEW
- Emaline Hicks qualified for the NCWWC National Championships at 101 pounds and tallied three wins, finishing her freshman season one victory shy of All-American distinction.
- Simpson hosted the NCWWC Region V Championships and finished fourth as a team, the best finish of Division III teams present. The Storm also finished fourth at the DIII Invitational which featured a field of 23 teams.
- Kassidee Savaria (27), Sarah Zimmerman (24), Keeley Kehrli (23) and Jalynn Goodale (21) all completed their first seasons with more than 20 wins, while Ashley Cannon (16), Lily McMahon (16) and Brooklyn Garza (15) all had at least 15.
- Zimmerman was named the NWCA Regional Wrestler of the Month in February.
- The Storm went 12-4 in dual action and picked up their first home victory in program history.
- Devyn Moore (101), Zimmerman (109), Ashley Cannon (130) and Savaria (170) were all crowned champions of their brackets at the A-R-C Invitational.
