Nash edges Anderson for Flight C Championship

CEDAR RAPIDS - It was an all-Simpson final in Flight C Singles at the 2010 Iowa Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday as Lindsay Nash edged out teammate Allison Anderson for the championship.

The No. 5 seed in Flight C, Nash out-dueled No. 2 seed Anderson, 8-6 in the final. After advancing to the semifinals Friday, both endured three-set thrillers to reach the title match.

Nash met up with top-seeded Megan Anderson of Buena Vista in her semifinal, dropping the first set 6-4. She recovered with 6-1, 1-0 (6) wins to reach the title match. Anderson faced third-seeded Haley Henrichs of Buena Vista in her semifinal, advancing 6-4, 6-7 (3), 1-0 (3).

In Flight B doubles, the team of Anderson and Mikayla Struebing began the day in the semifinals against top-seeded Bordignon and Hoffman of Coe. Falling to eventual runner-up from Coe 8-3, fifth-seeded Struebing and Anderson went on to win the third-place match, an 8-2 decision against second-seeded Anderson and Gutschenritter of Buena Vista.
