Simpson gets underway with win over BVU

INDIANOLA - A dominating effort in singles propelled the Simpson women's tennis team to an 8-1 conference win against Buena Vista on Wednesday afternoon.

With the threat of rain looming, the skies remained clear as the Storm (1-0) kicked off the season on a high note. Simpson swept the singles competition and took 2-of-3 doubles contests at the Buxton Tennis Complex.

Sporting a lineup of only one senior in 2010, a host of underclassmen will be called up on to perform for third-year head coach Lindsay Chase in 2010. On Wednesday, they did just that.

Sophomores Tiffany Bost, Mikayla Struebing and Lindsay Nash all earned singles victories, joining senior Jill Berner and juniors Allison Anderson and Lynae Gruber in the singles sweep. Bost earned a tough, three-set win at No. 2 singles while Struebing came away with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.

The Storm continue their early-season homestand with a pair of conference matches Saturday, welcoming Coe and Cornell to Indianola.

Simpson athletes visit Lasik Iowa and Lasik Omaha doctors for annual checkups.
