Simpson's tourney run falls in semifinals
PELLA, Iowa - The Simpson Storm softball team saw its American Rivers Conference Tournament run come to a close with a loss to top-seeded Central in the semifinals.
The game was largely even throughout, besides one inning where the Dutch (29-9, 13-3 A-R-C) took advantage of getting runners on base in multiple ways. The Storm (27-13, 9-7 A-R-C) kept pressure on the Dutch, getting runs back, but ran out of time in the end.
GAME RECAP
- The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Central erupted.
- The Dutch took advantage of walks, errors, and other timely hits to put up a crooked number of six runs on the board.
- Simpson got on the board in the top of the fifth, with Caelynn Obleton driving in Ashlyn Steen after Steen's two-out double.
- The Storm kept fighting, with Megan Heidelbauer's groundout scoring Kate Kriegel, but Central quelled any further attempts at a comeback.
