Strong finish for Storm women's golf earns sixth place finish at A-R-C Championships

LONG GROVE, Iowa - Kaylin Long's strong bounce back in rounds two and three for an All-Conference finish headlined the Simpson women's golf team at the 2025 American Rivers Conference Championship.

In the opening round, the Storm got off to a slow start, shooting 345 as a team. Laura Klaessy led the way with a 12-over par 84, followed by Long and Addison Brink at 86. Joann Martin and Tessa Rounds rounded out the card with 89 and 90 scores respectively.

Simpson surged back in the second round, dropping 12 strokes off their game to shoot 333, which marked the fourth lowest score on the day. Long topped the scorecard with a 79, shooting even-par on 12 holes. Brink finished with an 84, while Klaessy and Martin added 85's with Rounds closing out the day with an 88 as the Storm moved up one spot on the team leaderboards heading into the final day of action.

In the final 18, Rounds carded her best and team's best score, shooting an 81 to close out the tournament. Long and Klaessy added scores of 82 and 83 respectively, while Martin and Brink closed out the day at 85 and 86 respectively. As a team, Simpson's third round mark of 331 was the lowest single round score of the tournament for Simpson, and eighth lowest in the entire field. Long raced up to a top-15 finish in the individual standings, netting her first All-Conference honors in her career.

Overall, Simpson ended the tournament in sixth place overall with a final score of 1009 over the three days, averaging a score of 336.3. The Storm knocked off Central, Luther, and Nebraska Wesleyan in the standings.
