Noland adds national honor after standout defensive performance

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson linebacker Noah Noland has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after helping lead a dominant defensive effort in Saturday's 27-7 Homecoming win over Dubuque.

The freshman from Carlisle, Iowa, matched his career high with 18 total tackles, including 12 solo stops, and added two sacks for a loss of nine yards to lead a dominant effort from the Storm defense.

Noland also played a key role in one of the game's biggest moments, teaming up with Zach Pamperin for a critical goal-line stop late in the first half. The duo stuffed the Dubuque quarterback on a keeper from the 2-yard line on 3rd-and-goal, and the Spartans were unable to run another play before the clock expired, keeping them scoreless heading into halftime.

Earlier this week, Noland was also recognized as the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week and the league's Male Athlete of the Week.

The D3football.com Team of the Week is a national honor recognizing the top individual performers across Division III each week of the season. Noland collects the 30th honor in program history and joins CJ Hangartner as Storm honorees from this fall.
