Kincaid, Taylor selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College women's basketball senior Cameron Kincaid and graduate student Jenna Taylor both earned a spot on the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team, as announced on Thursday.

The duo join Buena Vista's Vanessa Hamlet as the only female honorees from the American Rivers Conference. Coe's Jarad Kruse and Loras' Rowan McGowen represented the conference on the men's side. Simpson was one of just four Division III schools to have multiple female selections on the first team.

Kincaid picks up her first academic all-district honor as a biology major with a 3.78 GPA. She has started every game this season and made 113 career appearances for the Storm, the fifth-most in program history. Originally from Olathe, Kan., Kincaid became the 18th member of the 1,000-point club earlier this year and was named A-R-C Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career on Jan. 17. The two-time all-conference performer and 2021 All-West Region honoree currently leads the nation in free throw percentage with just four misses in 86 attempts, and ranks second all-time in career free throw percentage with an 88.4 clip. She ranks third on the team in points per game (13.0), field goal percentage (53.9), and assists per game (2.8).

Off the court, the three-time academic all-conference selection is a member of Beta Beta Beta Honor Society and serves as the vice president of Simpson's mental health society, Storm Speaks. Kincaid is also an academic tutor, a member of Active Minds, and a Dance Marathon participant.

Taylor, the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year, earns her third academic all-district honor. The 4.0 student graduated in May 2021 with a degree in accounting and economics: finance and is currently studying data analytics with a 3.76 GPA. She has played in 106 games, ranking third all-time in rebounding (720) and fourth in scoring (1,561). The 2021 A-R-C and All-West Region MVP was a top-30 finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year award last season and was tabbed All-American by D3hoops and the WBCA. This season, she was named the USBWA DIII National Player of the Week on Jan. 2 as well as conference player of the week four times. She leads the league in scoring (16.4 ppg) and ranks seventh in the nation in 3-point percentage (43.7).

Originally from Creston, Iowa, Taylor is a four-time academic all-conference honoree who is also a member of Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, Storm Speaks and Dance Marathon. She was presented the Robert W. Freyerham Award for Outstanding Junior by the Department of Business Administration and Economics in 2019.

Both Kincaid and Taylor will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team selection process, where first-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced in mid-March.
