Taylor picks up fourth A-R-C weekly accolade of season
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A Storm women's basketball player has been selected as American Rivers Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row as Jenna Taylor picks up her fourth weekly accolade of the season and 10th of her career on Monday.
Taylor led Simpson with 41 points and 13 rebounds in two wins over Luther last week. In the first of two matchups, Taylor knocked down six three-pointers in the first half and finished the game with 26 points, enough to hit exactly 1,500 career points. She added 15 more to her total in Saturday's 90-66 home win while contributing seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The graduate student's 26-point performance in the Storm's 85-49 road win was the third time this season Taylor scored exactly 26 points in a game and marked her sixth time surpassing 20 points in a contest. The A-R-C's lead scorer has reached double figures in all but four contests for a 16.6 per game average.
Simpson improved to 19-1 overall and 11-0 in the conference with its two wins over the Norse last week. The Storm have won 16 games in a row and have posted 21-straight victories in league play.
The Storm travel to Storm Lake on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Buena Vista and will host Dubuque for Senior Day on Saturday at 2 p.m.
