Shoaf claims national championship as Storm close out the season
SAN ANTONIO - Competing at the ACUI National Championships, the Simpson shooting program claimed a national championship for Wyatt Shoaf in the Super Shooting Class C division as the Storm finished with a team score of 1349.
The Storm placed second out of the 21 teams in Division 3 of the championships that featured schools from all divisions of the NCAA and the NAIA. Simpson as a team placed seventh in both the trap and super shooting categories with scores of 479 and 443 respectively.
Shoaf finished with a score of 96 in the Super Shooting Men's Class C Division for his first ever national championship. Shoaf also led the Storm in trap, scoring a near-perfect 98, which was the highest score by any Storm in any competition, and was third on the team in skeet with a 94.
Audrey Gordon earned a bronze finish in the Sporting Clays Women's Class C Division with a score of 86.
Jordan Fisher and Tyler Tucker both posted a team-high 95 in the skeet while Connor Lynn secured the second-highest score on the day with a 97 in the trap category.
