Storm fall to Luther, Wartburg in weekend competition

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Storm continued conference play this weekend as they hosted Luther on Friday and Wartburg on Saturday. Throughout the course of the weekend, the Storm lost both matches 6-1. Despite the losses, Simpson put on a show for the crowd, pushing a few matches into extra points and putting together a hard-fought effort.

In singles competition against Luther, Javier Robles Solis brought the Storm their only victory of the day against his opponent. He won in a thrilling 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-3) match. Darek Kayser, Grand Love, and Drake Downard all put up points in their matches against their opponents as well, however, they all fell in the end.

In doubles competition against Luther, the Storm didn't pick up any victories. Javier Robles Solis and Grant Love brought the closest match together, finishing in a 6-4 defeat. Darek Kayser and Seth Orta lost 6-2, while Drake Downard and Blane Wallace fell 6-1.

In singles competition against Wartburg, Grant Love put on a show. In his win against Milan Lecic of Wartburg, Love pushed his match to the limits, playing several extra points. The final score of his victory was 6-7 (9-17), 7-6 (7-4), 10-5. Javier Robles Solis also competed in a close 6-3, 6-4 match, and Seth Orta fell in extra points 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

The Storm fell in all of their doubles competitions against Wartburg. The closest match for the Storm was Grant Love and Javier Robles Solis' 6-3 defeat.
