Simpson ranked second in Region IX
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Simpson College women's soccer team held steady at No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches Region IX rankings and sits just outside the Top 25 poll among teams receiving votes.
The Storm (8-1-1) faced two other teams ranked in Region IX last week, defeating Wis.-Eau Claire 3-1 before tying Saint Benedict 0-0. Against the Blugolds, Cassie Nash scored the equalizer in the 49th minute before Maddie Hays gave Simpson the lead with a successful penalty kick. Nash extended the margin to two with a second goal in the 81st minute, her third multi-goal outing of the year.
Simpson, which beat Central 3-0 in its conference opener on Sept. 24, will now face the remaining seven league foes over the course of the next three weeks. The journey begins with a home match against Luther on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
