OMAHA, Neb. - Saint Mary came out firing on all cylinders and the Simpson women's soccer team couldn't pull itself out of an early hole, losing 3-0 on the road Wednesday.
The Flames (3-3-0) scored all three goals in the first 12 minutes of play. By the time Simpson settled in, the damage was done and the Storm (0-2-2) dropped their second straight after back-to-back ties to start the season.
All three goals came in a 4-minute span. Hanna Staudenmaier scored in the ninth minute to put Saint Mary on the board, Kennedy Cascio scored off a corner in the 11th minute and Elli McMeekin rounded out the scoring at the 11:56 mark.
