CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Amber Johnson scored the game-winner just over five minutes into overtime and the Simpson women's soccer team beat Coe 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Megan Petersen made five saves in goal for the Storm (6-2, 1-0 Iowa Conference), who turned in their fifth clean sheet of the season and won their fifth game in a row.
"The girls yet again showed great resilliency as we continue to get the tough wins," head coach Ryan Sander said. "It was a great individual effort by Amber to get the game-winner."
After ending regulation 0-0, Johnson scored her third goal of the season at the 95:22 mark. Jess Toyne assisted on the goal.
Kaylee Weems made seven saves in goal for the Kohawks (5-3-1, 0-1).
Simpson returns to the pitch Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Grand View. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
