Softball team, individuals earn academic recognition
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson softball team and 11 individuals recently took home accolades for academic excellence from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
As a team, the Storm were named an NFCA All-Academic Team after achieving a cumulative 3.31 grade point average in 2012-13. Simpson owned the second-best GPA in the Iowa Conference, trailing only Luther (3.532).
Simpson also had a league-high 11 individuals earn All-America Scholar-Athlete honors. To earn the award, players must achieve a 3.50 GPA during the year.
