Strong results from Ehrreich lead Storm in key victory over Loras
INDIANOLA, Iowa - With their second showing in Indianola, the Simpson men's swim team clinched a key victory over A-R-C opponent Loras in a double dual including Iowa Western Community College on Saturday.
In the eighth event of the day, Parker Ehrreich claimed the first top spot for the Storm, winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.50, beating the field by nearly half a second. Later in the 100 backstroke, Ehrreich shined again, winning the event with a mark of 58.33 seconds, while teammate Carter Pichler took second just two seconds behind.
"Excited to see them get up and race," said head coach Adam Cvetich. "We've been working on all the little things - tight streamlines, aggressive breakouts, fast hands – and to see it go from practice into races is amazing. The team did great all round today."
Other notable performances for the Storm included Tyce Dolphin in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.91 minutes. Jay Ceperley in the 100 butterfly at 57.53 seconds beat this opponent from Loras with a lunge at the end, winning by 00:01 seconds. The day was not over for Ceperley, as he took second overall in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:08.57 minutes. Tristan Blair, and Christopher Olds went three and four in the 500 freestyle. To conclude, the Storm's 200 freestyle relay team finished in second with a time of 1:32.95 minutes behind the efforts from Ehrreich, Pichler, Blair, and Ceperley.
