Storm football finalizes 2018 schedule
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson football team and head coach Matt Jeter have finalized the 2018 schedule, which features five home, five road games, two non-conference matchups and an eight-game Iowa Conference slate. The annual homecoming game will be played Oct. 6 against Coe.
The Storm open the season Saturday, Sept. 1 at home against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe, Bethel. After a trip to Chicago for a week two matchup against the Midwest Conference's Maroons, Simpson opens IIAC play Sept. 15 against Nebraska Wesleyan.
The Storm experienced a two-game improvement in 2017, going 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the Iowa Conference in Jeter's second year at the helm. Simpson won 3 of 5 to close the season.
Simpson returns five all-conference players from last year's squad, led by safeties Brendan Holmes and Ryan Lehr, linebackers Ryan Sarver and Michael Connor and running back Cam Bunting.
All start times are set for 1 p.m. Home games will be video streamed on SimpsonAthletics.com.
