St. Olaf shuts out Simpson, 34-0

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Leon Clark rushed for 114 yards and Dan Dobson threw three touchdown passes as St. Olaf beat Simpson, 34-0 Saturday at Manitou Field.

Clark opened the scoring in the second quarter with his 42-yard touchdown run. The Olies (2-0) added two scores before the half, on a pair Dobson touchdown passes. He connected with Antonio Jennings for a 25-yard score with 4:45 left and Jared Mueller with 16 seconds remaining in the half from 26 yards out.

His final scoring throw was a 21-yard throw to Jake Schmiesing in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Freshman quarterback Taylor Nelson (West Des Moines, Iowa) led the Storm (0-2) with 47 yards rushing, adding 62 yards through the air. Freshman Brad Vogel (Dennellson, Iowa) led the team with five receptions and junior Braden Everding (Tripoli, Iowa) made a team-high six tackles, including a sack.

For the second game in a row, Simpson was held under 100 yards rushing after surpassing the century mark in 9 of 10 games a year ago. Simpson gained 73 yards on the ground.

The Storm return home next weekend when they host Loras in the Iowa Conference opener for both teams.
