Simpson closes spring season with pair of losses

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's tennis team closed its spring season with losses to Central and Grinnell last week.

Agaisnt Central on Tuesday, April 13, Simpson dropped a 7-2 decision at Dick and Nancy Buxton Tennis Courts. Juliana Pearson (Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk) earned Simpson's lone singles victory, defeating Sanja Mustic (6-1, 6-3) at No. 6. The team of Jill Berner (Albia, Iowa/Albia) and Tiffany Bost (Spokane, Wash./Mead) notched the team's second point with an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.

The Storm (3-4) closed the season at home against Grinnell on Saturday, picking up a pair of singles victories. Allison Anderson (Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott) closed the season with a win at No. 4 singles, taking a three set win over Kelsey Picked (6-4, 5-7, 10-5). Anderson finished second on the team with four singles victories during the spring campaign (4-2).

Pearson notched a 6-3, 7-6 win over Elizabeth Spears at No. 6 singles, giving her a team-best five wins on the spring while closing with a three-match winning streak.
