Bio
The 2017 season marked Pete Traynor's sixth on the Storm coaching staff and third as full-time assistant. He resigned in April 2017.
A former Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye standout, Taynor handled the offensive line and also served as the football team's strength and conditioning coach. He added the role of Run Game Coordinator in 2017.
A 2003 graduate of the University of Iowa, Traynor played in 26 games for the Hawkeyes from 2000-02, was named to the Big 10 All-Academic Team twice and won three letters. He continued his playing career after college, spending a combined seven years playing in the Arena Football League and af2, which included a stop with the Iowa Barnstormers. After three years in af2, he signed with the Green Bay Packers, appearing in four games during the 2006 season. He also suited up for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe the same year.
As a coach, Traynor spent 2004 and 2005 as the offensive line coach for Iowa City High, winning the Mississippi Valley Conference’s Outstanding Offensive Line Coach of the Year Award in 2005.
Traynor and his wife, Lauren, reside in Urbandale with their two children: daughter Payton and son Cole.
