George Love enters his fourth season with the Storm football program in 2022 as an assistant coach and the defensive coordinator.

Love's defense ranked fourth in the conference by allowing 23.8 points and 219.5 yards per game through the air in 2019. Love had two players finish in the top five among conference tacklers in 2019, Michael Connor was second with 106 and Brendan Holmes fourth with 93 takedowns.

Love joins the staff after spending the last three seasons as the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Angelo State University. Prior to there, he served in the same role and was also the secondary coach at Millersville University from 2013-15.

During the 2011 season, Love was the linebackers coach at his alma mater, Eastern Illinois University. Love had a two-year stint as the outside linebackers coach at the University of North Dakota from 2009-10. He served as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State University from 2007-08 and was a student assistant at Eastern Illinois in 2006.

Love played four seasons for the Panthers in 2002-05 in their secondary as a safety and cornerback. While in uniform, Eastern Illinois won two Ohio Valley Conference titles and made it the NCAA Division FCS Tournament, but fell in the first round on both occasions. He was a ball hawk for the Panthers and was tied for first on the team in 2002 and 2003 in interceptions.

The St. Louis, Mo. native graduated in 2007 from Eastern Illinois with a bachelors degree in general studies.

Love currently resides in Indianola, Iowa with his wife, Clemente' and their two children, George III and Cruze.
