Simpson College 2021 Outdoor Attendance Policy

UPDATED APRIL 22, 2021: The Simpson College Department of Athletics, in order to provide a safe and positive experience for student-athletes, coaches, support staff and spectators during the COVID-19 pandemic, has announced its outdoor attendance policy for the spring 2021 season. The following policy applies to the outdoor sports of baseball, softball, football, soccer, track and field and tennis.

All spectators are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing, in accordance with college protocols. Concessions will be closed. Outside food and beverage are not permitted in seating areas. Tailgating is also prohibited.

Fans can follow all originally-scheduled contests via live video stream or live stats on simpsonathletics.com. Refer to individual sport schedules for more details.

Sport-specific information is outlined below:

Baseball (McBride Field)

There will be a limited number of spectators permitted into the complex but there is no official pass list for entry
Parents and student-athletes may interact after competition has ended
Food provided by parents to student-athletes must be individually wrapped and delivered outside of the dugout
Parents and spectators are not permitted to interact with student-athletes or coaches prior, during or in-between games
Spectators will share the stadium seating behind home plate with Simpson fans occupying the third-base side and visitors occupying the first-base side
Simpson spectators will also use the grassy area on the third-base side
Visiting spectators will also use the grassy area on the first-base side

Softball (Simpson Softball Complex)

There will be a limited number of spectators permitted into the complex but there is no official pass list for entry
Parents and student-athletes may interact after competition has ended
Food provided by parents to student-athletes must be individually wrapped and delivered outside of the dugout
Parents and spectators are not permitted to interact with student-athletes or coaches prior, during or in-between games
Simpson spectators will sit in the bleachers on the first-base side and behind home plate
Visiting spectators will sit in the bleachers on the third-base side

Football (Buxton Stadium)

Parents and spectators are not permitted to interact with student-athletes or coaches prior to or during games
Parents and student-athletes may interact after competition has ended
Food provided by parents to student-athletes must be individually wrapped and delivered outside of Buxton Stadium
Visitor spectators will enter Buxton Stadium through the south gates off Clinton St. and will sit in the east side bleachers behind their team’s bench
Home spectators will enter Buxton Stadium through the north gates near the Steven Johnson Fitness Center and sit in the west side bleachers behind the Simpson bench
Simpson students, faculty and staff will sit in the northwest bleachers (80-person capacity) behind the Simpson bench
Simpson pre-approved pass list guests will sit in all remaining bleacher space behind the Simpson bench

Soccer (Buxton Stadium)

Parents and spectators are not permitted to interact with student-athletes or coaches prior to or during games
Parents and student-athletes may interact after competition has ended
Food provided by parents to student-athletes must be individually wrapped and delivered outside of Buxton Stadium
All spectators will enter Buxton Stadium through the west gates off D St.
All spectators will sit in the west bleachers, in designated areas
Simpson students, faculty and staff will sit in the northwest bleachers (80-person capacity)
Simpson family and recruits will sit in the bleachers in front and north of the press box (150-person capacity)
Visiting team spectators will sit in the bleachers south of the press box (100-person capacity)
All bleachers must be cleared between game one and game two of a doubleheader

Track and Field (Buxton Stadium and surrounding athletic fields)

Each participant is allowed up to four people to attend the meet.
All spectators will enter Buxton Stadium through the north gates by the Steven Johnson Fitness Center, while the student-athletes will enter through the west gates off of D Street
The west bleacher sections will be open to spectators

Tennis (Buxton Tennis Complex)

There will be a limited number of spectators permitted into the complex but there is no official pass list for entry
Parents and student-athletes may interact after competition has ended
Food provided by parents to student-athletes must be individually wrapped and delivered outside of the courts
Parents and spectators are not permitted to interact with student-athletes or coaches prior, during or in-between matches

All policies are subject to change. The Simpson College Crisis Management Team will continue to monitor in-person attendance at outdoor athletic events.
